CASE STUDY
BT Agilemedia. C Darren Parker, Chief Operations Officer
Agilemedia provides services to the Participation Media industry. As such, each employee understands the traditional progressions of grade and position are unlikely to be available during the time of this specific project. It is therefore particularly important for us to find other ways to motivate and develop individuals within their roles. We asked Sandra to work with us on a consultancy basis to offer individual coaching to those within the team who wanted this support. Although purely voluntary, all have met Sandra at least once and a large number of them still see her on a regular basis.
From my point of view, benefits are two-fold: I have the opportunity to vent and explore my personal feelings surrounding specific issues. Sandra is able to use her skills as a coach and her understanding of the team as a whole to help me think around issues, seeing them from all sides and make better decisions in key areas. Secondly, I’m able to put longer term development strategies into place, improving my skills and those of my team in specific areas.
I’ve seem marked improvements within the wider team, particularly where previously, the quality of communication had been an issue. Over time, the people involved have learned to tackle specific issues in a more sensitive way, leading to a greater degree of trust and communication.
Considering the high profile nature and value of our work, the emphasis on success within Ventures generally and the resulting stress that frequently accompanies such an environment, there is an extraordinarily low level of confrontation within the team and I feel Sandra's help is a key factor in this.
As a result, the team is more focused, better integrated and better able to handle the pressure of delivering success in a highly ambitious environment.
